Information flow may hurt Yorkshire hopes

Yorkshire’s amateur team go into the final game at Northumberland today level in wins with Lancashire but trailing their Roses rivals in the points column, by a solitary point.

The forward-thinking White Rose have been ahead of the game this season by updating their match scores in foursomes and singles via social media and live web updates. But Berry, who is the man with his hands on the technological controls, says if nerves get too frayed in this afternoon’s singles, he may pull the plug on the flow of information.

“I might stop the updates if it gets tight to leave Lancashire guessing,” said Berry, mischieviously.

“There’s a lot of people in Yorkshire who like to follow the scores, but it might not be helpful for us today to continue doing it.”

Yorkshire trail going into the final round because they slipped up at Cheshire earlier this month.

They have aleady beaten Lancashire this season and will win the title if they match or better Lancashire’s win and points-scored total at the end of play today.

“Our players have to just take care of their match and we shouldn’t have to worry about Lancashire,” added Berry.
