LEEDS'S Kiran Matharu was unable to build on the fine start she made at the Lalla Aicha Tour School Final Qualifying in Marrakech and failed to earn a Ladies European Tour card for 2016.

The 26-year-old began with scores of 68 and 69, but three successive rounds of 75 saw her fall from her first-day placing of fourth to a tie for 46th.

She lay 35th ahead of the final round at Samanah and - needing to finish in the top 30 and ties - went out in one under thanks to birdies at holes four and eight after a bogey at the second.

However, Matharu dropped shots at 12 and 14, rallied with a birdie at 17, but then finished with a triple bogey seven.

She finished five shots back of the players who earned Category 8 status, but has the consolation of being eligible for membership in Category 9b, although it opens fewer doors to tournaments than the higher status.
