Kiran Matharu stumbles but remains in hunt for LET card

A MID-ROUND slump that led to five shots being surrendered in seven holes saw Leeds's Kiran Matharu tumble to 25th after three rounds of the Ladies European Tour’s Lalla Aicha Tour School Final Qualifier.

But thanks to opening sub-par rounds of 68 and 69 she remains comfortably in sight of making Monday's top-60 cut ahead of Tuesday's final-round chase for one of the 30 cards on offer for the 2016 season.

The 26-year-old did well to bounce back from the troublesome sequence to birdie 16 and sign for a 75 at Samanah in Marrakech, which left her six shots above the projected cut line.

India's Aditi Ashok shot a third-round 10-under-par 62 to set a new women’s course record at the same course, one of two being used for the event.

The 17-year-old amateur, from Bangalore, fired 11 birdies and one bogey on her last hole to finish the day at 17 under, a stroke behind the leader Karolin Lampert, from Germany, who shot a 66, also at Samanah.

Ashok’s 62 equalled the men’s course record and was just a stroke shy of matching the Ladies European Tour’s all-time record of 11 under par for 18 holes, held by six players. However, with seven birdies on the front nine, she went out in 29 and joined 36 others who hold the record for the lowest nine holes.

In August, Ashok won the Ladies British Amateur stroke play championship at Moortown.
