Leeds and Harrogate fighting it out at the top of YIDU Junior League

Both of them face the same opposition in York, both away, with Leeds having a match points advantage of 135 to Harrogate’s 123.

Leeds beat Bradford 27-9 at Headingley, stretching their 7-5 advantage from the foursomes with an overwhelming 20-4 result in the singles.

Five Leeds players had maximum returns – Wakefield’s Daniel Bradbury and George Heath, Luke Whitaker and Ayden Ward (Cookridge Hall) and Jak Cavanagh (Moortown).

Moor Allerton’s Robbie Grimwood and Tom Hough, of Pontefract, each enjoyed a win and a half.

South Bradford’s Lewis Walls was Bradford’s sole singles victor, Northcliffe’s Zain Saeed and Alex Hosty (Bingley St Ives) adding a point each for halving their respective singles.

Harrogate got the better of East Riding 21-15 at Knaresborough, having led 8-4 after the foursomes.

Five Harrogate players won in both the morning and the afternoon; Ilkley’s Robert Nesbitt and Gregor Myles, Knaresborough’s Nathan Seal, Pannal’s Oliver Abbott and Otley’s Will Bradley, the latter with resounding 6&4 wins in both phases.

Ilkley’s Henry Croft contributed a win and a half.

Two East Riding players followed up a foursomes win with victory in the singles – Matt Raybould (Bridlington) and Burstwick’s Lewis Hunt.

This was the first of two matches on consecutive days for East Riding, who went on to defeat York 24-12 at Beverley.

Raybould and Hunt followed up their previous day’s fine work with two more victories each, and Matty Jessop (Cottingham) and Hull’s Ben Ratcliffe also had maximums against York.

Pike Hills’ Matt Jagger and Malton & Norton’s Marcus Brigham did likewise for York.
