McIlroy ‘back in the saddle’ in Malaysia

Rory McIlroy begins his road to redemption in Malaysia today alongside a trio of Yorkshire players seeking more modest gains on the latest stop of the European Tour.

The task for Simon Dyson, Danny Willett and John Parry is to make an impression on the leaderboard, with all three having done so only once apiece so far this season.

Malton’s Dyson will fancy his chances of doing so this week at a tournament in which he has not finished lower than 18th in the last five visits.

Traditionally a strong player in the Asian tournaments, the 33-year-old spent last week acclimatising to the heat of Kuala Lumpur by practising in Dubai.

“I’ve been playing pretty nicely and am starting to get a good feel for my game,” said Dyson who is on the first leg of a four-tournament block that also takes him to China, South Korea and Spain.

“It’s just a matter of putting that into practice,”

McIlroy, the world No 9 who blew a four-shot lead at the Masters, said: “I’m trying to get back on the saddle and put everything that happened last week behind me.”
