Parry looking to end his sequence of missed cuts

Normally a return of four missed cuts from five tournaments would suggest a player is bang out of form.

While Harrogate’s John Parry would concede he has not quite hit the heights on his return to the European Tour, his form is not as bad as the results suggest.

Those four missed cuts have all been within a whisker. The combined number of shots that he has failed to make the weekend by in the last three of those is just four, and at the weather-interrupted Nelson Mandela Championship, he missed the money places by just two shots.

Chris Wood’s closing eagle to win the Qatar Masters has earned him the European Tour’s Golfer of the Month award for January.

The Bristol 25-year-old hit a drive and six-iron to 12 feet to claim his maiden Tour title by one shot from Sergio Garcia and George Coetzee.

“It meant so much and winning was a big step forward for my career,” Wood said.
