Sheffield’s James Maw chisels out opening 68 in Aberdeen

Sheffield’s James Maw fired a four-under-par 68 in the first round of the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour’s Paul Lawrie Foundation Granite City Classic in Aberdeen.

He still found himself five shots off the lead despite a fine card which included five birdies and only one dropped shot, at the 13th.

First-year professional Mark Young, from Clitheroe, carded an outstanding nine-under-par 63 at Newmachar GC for a two-shot lead.
