Yorkshire's Daniel Gavins and Chris Hanson are front-runners for European Tour cards

YORKSHIRE'S Daniel Gavins and Chris Hanson share a three-way lead with South African Jean Hugo after the fourth-round cut at the European Tour's qualifying school final stage in Girona.

All three players are on 14 under par with two rounds left to play while the European Tour door is still left open for 75 other players who made the one-under cut, including Ross McGowan, Edoardo Molinari and Maarten Lafeber.

The top 25 and ties at the end of six rounds at the PGA Catalunya Resort will earn a place in the 2016 Race to Dubai.

Woodsome Hall's Hanson, 30, who has played four seasons on the Challenge Tour, said: "There are not many people who can enjoy this event as much as me because my Challenge Tour Ranking for next year is the best I've ever had.

"The top 25 didn't really matter so I suppose that's probably freed me up where I can enjoy it.

"I just need to keep doing what I'm doing, relaxing, not too much practising, speaking to the family back home and they keep you levelled. It's good fun.

"I'm not going to lie, there are moments when you think about it out there on the course, or when you wake up in the morning. I've been playing this game 10 years now though and you know you have to keep in the present in this game."

Hanson (70 63 66 71) was out in one over 37 in spite of an eagle at the seventh, and also made bogey at the 10th.

But birdies at holes 12, 13 and 15 pulled him up to the top.

Oulton Hall's Gavins (71 65 66 68) would have been out in front on his own but for bogeys at holes 17 and 18.

An eagle at the 15th had taken him to six under for his round, following birdies at holes six, seven, 10 and 12.

Hull's Richard Finch, looking to regain his card, lies in a tie for 24th (69 66 70 73).

He was one under through 10 holes, but bogeyed both 11 and 17.

Former European Tour winners Kenneth Ferrie and Peter Hedblom also made the cut, alongside Swedish amateur Marcus Kinhult and Irishman Paul Dunne, who shared the third-round lead at this year's Open at St Andrews.

Ryan Fox, son of former New Zealand rugby union fly-half Grant, shot a six-under 64 for the best round of the day to squeeze inside the cut line.
