Hanagan's lead drops to three

MALTON rider Paul Hanagan's diminishing lead in the Flat jockeys' championship was cut to just three yesterday, even though he recorded his 184th winner on Herostatus.

In-form rival Richard Hughes rode a double, the second of which came courtesy of Aurora Sky who denied Hanagan's mount Bahamian Music in a thrilling finish.

Crucially, it was the second successive day that a Hughes horse had outbattled a Hanagan mount.

Both riders have seven booked rides at Wolverhampton today. The season ends at Doncaster on Saturday.
