Harbinger on the way back to York

Seventh out of seven in last year's Great Voltigeur Stakes, Harbinger could make a stunning return to York's Ebor meeting later this month.

Officially rated the best racehorse in the world following his victory in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes after an 11-length demolition of Irish Derby winner Cape Blanco, he is set to contest the Juddmonte International – the race that Sea The Stars won last year.

Harbinger's trainer, Sir Michael Stoute, believes that the four-year-old needs another run prior to October's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, his ultimate target, and the Highclere Thoroughbred Racing syndicate are prepared to pay 50,000 to supplement their horse in the York feature.

Highclere manager Harry Herbert said: "Sir Michael feels that it is too long a gap between now and the Arc for Harbinger not to have another race and with this in mind, we are seriously considering running him in the Juddmonte International on August 17."

Another York runner is likely to be Henry Cecil's Breeders Cup heroine Midday, who is bound for the Yorkshire Oaks after recording back-to-back wins in the Nassau Stakes.
