Hereford 3 Sheffield Tigers 20 Tigers take command for away-day triumph

SHEFFIELD Tigers notched their second victory in a row at Hereford in National Three (Midlands).

The victory made the long journey worthwhile for Tigers, who were always in control of the match and rarely allowed Hereford over their 22-yard line.

The first half looked set to finish without any points but flanker Callum McKenzie finally crashed over for Tigers on 39 minutes.

Max Whittingham used his pace and guile to outfox the defence and cross for the opening try, converted by Greg Wood, to give Sandal a deserved 7-0 advantage going into the second period.

But the score belied the superior possession Stockport had enjoyed and in the second half they turned that to their advantage to run in two well-worked tries and maintain their 100 per cent start to the new campaign.
