I Just Know will carry Yorkshire hopes in Grand National

YORKSHIRE'S Grand National hopes are set to rest with the Sue and Harvey Smith-trained I Just Know.

The only withdrawal at yesterday’s 48-hour declarations was Nicky Henderson’s Gold Present, who is owned by Mirfield businessman John Cotton.

However, the Smiths, victorious in the race five years ago with Auroras Encore, are responsible for two of the four reserves – Delusionofgrandeur and Vintage Clouds.

The Jonjo O’Neill-trained Minella Rocco, runner-up in the 2017 Cheltenham Gold Cup, will shoulder top weight of 11st 10lb, with Noel Meade’s Road To Riches the last to make the cut.

Meanwhile, bookmakers say the gamble on Irish challenger Baie Des Iles is continuing to gather momentum as Katie Walsh – sister of dual National-winning jockey Ruby Walsh – attempts to become the first female rider to win the world famous Aintree race. The horse is trained by her husband Ross O’Sullivan.

Two other female riders will attempt to make racing history – Bryony Forst, who partners Milansbar, and Rachael Blackmore on Alpha Des Obeaux.
