Jarvis strikes to earn last-ball tie

Bradford leagueThere was last-ball drama at the Britannia Ground where the rain-affected match between Pudsey Congs and East Bierley ended in a tie.

Congs captain Glenn Roberts was caught off the final ball from spinner Luke Jarvis trying to score the winning runs.

Congs had needed 14 from the last over to pass East Bierley's 182-6 – a total bolstered by 67 from Derbyshire wicketkeeper Lee Goddard in a match reduced to 38 overs a side.

Jarvis struck with his first ball to dismiss Eugene Burzler, but Bairstow (71no) hit two sixes and pushed a single to tie the scores off the fifth ball, before Jarvis struck again with the aid of a catch by Andrew Rennison.

Pudsey St Lawrence opened a 19-point lead after captain James Smith made 134 not out in a 101-run victory at Saltaire.

Smith struck nine sixes and 10 fours and shared a second-wicket stand of 119 with Mark Robertshaw (59) as St Lawrence made 238-2 before dismissing Saltaire for 137 with Gareth Clough taking (4-33).

Bradford & Bingley are second after Richard McCarthy (4-44) and Will Briggs (3-22) set up an eight-wicket win over Farsley, who were dismissed for 110. Matthew Duce (58no) sped Bradford & Bingley to their target.

Undercliffe defeated Woodlands by 69 runs to register their first win. Overseas player Nawaz Sardar made 53 in Undercliffe's total of 186-9 and took 4-25 as Woodlands were dismissed for 117.

Yeadon are fourth after beating Gomersal by 15 runs. Left-armer Andrew Robertson took 6-34 as Gomersal were dismissed for 95 in reply to Yeadon's 111. Paul Machell's unbeaten 33 was crucial for Yeadon after left-arm spinner Ben Platt took 5-36.

Bankfoot stay bottom after a nine-wicket defeat by Cleckheaton. Captain John Wood (51no) and former Bankfoot opener Marcus Walmsley (43no) shared an unbroken century stand as Cleckheaton cruised past Bankfoot's 129-7.

In Division Two, leaders Hanging Heaton, thanks to 82 not out from former Yorkshire spinner Mark Lawson and 6-46 from captain John Carruthers, ended Windhill's unbeaten start.

Keighley edged Great Horton by seven runs with Matthew Bottomley making 88 and Ross Towler taking 5-46.
