Kingsgate Native can be buoyed by venue

This Listed event looks a good opportunity for the Robert Cowell-trained nine-year-old, who is a stalwart of the sprinting game.

Knavesmire remains the scene of his greatest moment, as he 
famously won the 2007 Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes as a two-year-old when in the care of John Best.

His latest effort was a solid one, finishing second to Extortionist in the Coral Charge on Eclipse day at Sandown last weekend.

Cowell said: “Kingsgate Native showed he is great condition, having finished second the other day at Sandown.

“He is still a fresh horse this year and I can see him running a really good race. He likes the course and was a good fifth in the Nunthorpe last year.

“He is dropping down to a Listed race, which is the first time he’s done that for a long time, so he should be one of the favourites, I would have thought.”

The progressive G Force represents Nawton trainer David O’Meara on the back of his third in the Scurry Stakes at Sandown, while North Yorkshire trainer Paul Midgley’s Monsieur Joe is another to arrive in fine form 
after his recent third at the Curragh to July Cup runner Fountain Of Youth.

Meanwhile Kevin Ryan’s 2013 Wokingham winner will look to return to winning ways – he has not won any of his six starts since sprinting clear to land Royal 
Ascot’s six-furlong handicap in June last year.

The Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival, which begins at Ripon next Saturday, will be launched on Wednesday night when an animation of the White Horse of Kilburn is projected onto the side of the Civic Hall in Leeds.
