Leeds United alerted after Doncaster Rovers' bid for Sharp fails

SHEFFIELD United's Billy Sharp could be heading to Leeds United after the collapse of a proposed move to Doncaster Rovers.

The Blades rejected a 650,000 offer from Rovers for Sharp yesterday which has signalled the start of a summer auction.

Both Leeds and Derby County have also expressed interest in the 24-year-old who spent last season on loan with Rovers following a fall-out with Blades manager Kevin Blackwell.

Sharp has been identified by Leeds as a replacement for Jermaine Beckford, who is expected to join Everton as a free agent.

The Blades want over 1m for the 24-year-old but are also aware that his transfer value will slump dramtically once the final year of his contract starts.

Blackwell, meanwhile, has been in talks with former Barnsley striker Daniel Bogdanovic about a move to Bramall Lane.

The Maltese international demanded a 100 per cent wage rise prior to being released by Barnsley this summer and is keen to join the Blades who are sponsored by the Maltese tourism board.
