Lennard puts the boot in to seal Knights’ win

The Knights’ victory, their first in the Championship since the end of January, was set up by an excellent first-half performance during which winger Tyson Lewis scored two outstanding tries on 10 and 15 minutes.

Doncaster’s authority and control was enhanced by full-back Jamie Lennard, who kicked three penalties and a conversion in the first half when the Knights established a 21-3 lead.

However, in the second half, the visitors recovered to scored a converted try on 72 minutes and when winger Ollie Thomas put over his third penalty on 80 minutes, Doncaster’s lead had been slashed to five points. Their decline was made worse by two yellow cards against forwards Matt Challinor and Dominic Parsons late in the second half.

Moseley’s pressure added to the tension, but Doncaster continued to defend stubbornly and the threat of another Moseley comeback was wiped out as Lennard struck his fourth penalty in the third minute of injury time to seal a thoroughly deserved victory.
