Matthew keeps his world bid on track
The 34-year-old, from Sheffield, safely negotiated his way through to the third round of the event with a 40-minute 3-0 victory over France’s Gregoire Marche.
Matthew will now take on Indian No 1 Saurav Ghosal – coached by Pontefract-based coach Malcolm Willstrop, to keep his hopes of a fourth world title alive.

“He’s got a great future ahead of him and he likes a fast game so I tried to use my experience to my advantage today and I’m very happy to win and go through.
“I’ve been very lucky to play a sport I love for a living and I’m happy to be playing at the moment and hopefully I have a few years left in me yet as long as the hunger is there.”
A 3-1 defeat Guildford’s Tom Richards by Egypt’s Tarek Momen ensured Matthew is the sole surviving British player.
