Momentum now vital for Hull

FORWARD Jason Silverthorn insists Hull Stingrays must capitalise on the momentum created by their four-point haul at the weekend by seeing off his former club Cardiff Devils in front of the live TV cameras this Friday.

The 31-year-old Canadian returned to action for Hull after missing six games through concussion to help them to wins over Newcastle Vipers and Elite League leaders Belfast Giants, going on to score the overtime winner against their Northern Ireland rivals on Sunday night.

Sylvain Cloutier's side head to South Wales to face a Devils side who have risen to fourth in the table thanks to an eight-match unbeaten run. Hull's previous trip to Cardiff Arena ended in a 7-4 defeat in a Challenge Cup meeting last month.

Silverthorn, who scored 94 points including 40 goals during a two-year spell with the Devils, said: "It was nice to contribute coming back and to contribute in a positive way. It was a great team weekend. We need to keep building from here."
