Moxon eyes four more wins to seal Twenty20 progression

MARTYN MOXON believes Yorkshire must win four of their last seven group games to reach the Twenty20 Cup quarter-finals.

Moxon's men reignited their hopes last week with three successive victories in the space of five days.

Thumping triumphs over Leicestershire, Worcestershire and Nottinghamshire temporarily lifted them to second place in the North Division and gave them five wins from their opening nine matches.

Now Moxon has outlined his quarter-final wins target ahead of tomorrow's game against Leicestershire at Headingley Carnegie (11am start).

"I think we need to win four out of seven games to qualify," said Yorkshire's director of professional cricket.

"It is very difficult to be precise about these things, but I'm hoping that would be enough to see us through.

"We've played very well in our last three matches but we don't yet believe the job is done.

"We need to keep this run of form going and take it into the Leicestershire match."

With all their top-order batsmen having contributed this past week, Yorkshire face a selection dilemma for tomorrow's encounter.

Jacques Rudolph is fit again after the shoulder injury that kept him out of the fixtures against Worcestershire and Nottinghamshire.

"We do have a bit of a selection headache – albeit a nice one," added Moxon.

"Ajmal Shahzad might also be available if England don't need him for the NatWest Series, and we'll find out about that on Saturday."

Tomorrow's start time was brought forward from 2.30pm to avoid a clash with England's World Cup football match against Germany, which kicks-off at 3pm in South Africa.

Supporters attending the cricket will be able to stay behind to watch the football on Headingley's big screen, while those who simply want to watch the football can gain free admission to the ground from 1pm.
