He will be joined by British Eventing’s national safety chairman Chapman on the panel.

Chapman, also 48, is a full-time British Eventing accredited coach, who has recently competed and produced horses up to three-star level from his Hertfordshire base with his wife, Laura.

Chapman has coached the British European CIC2* team as well as having ridden on the team twice, bringing home team gold in 2011. He is part of the coaching development team established by Yogi Breisner and will soon achieve his UKCC Level 3 Eventing Coaching.

Chairman of selectors Mandy Stibbe said: “Everyone who has been involved with the senior selection committee has put their heart and soul into winning medals and putting something back into the sport we all love.

“I am very much looking forward to chairing this new committee and I have no doubt that Chris and Jonathan will be great additions. They will add a fresh outlook and wide range of experience.

“Bridget Parker and I are really looking forward to working with them as the season gets underway with selection for the European Championships at the end of the autumn and some really exciting sport to come.”
