No return to Crucible for Parrott

Former world champion John Parrott fell at the first qualifying hurdle in his bid to return to the Crucible next month.

The 1991 winner lost 10-6 in the Betfred.com World Championship qualifiers to China's Anda Zhang –who at just 18 wasn't even born when the Liverpudlian lifted the trophy – at Sheffield's English Institute of Sport yesterday.

The 45-year-old resumed at 5-4 behind but edged ahead 6-5 before Anda reeled off five straight frames as Parrott missed out on a Crucible return for the third year running.

Haneever's performance included a century and seven other breaks over fifty.
