Nick McCarthy (Moortown) closed the gap on Nick Poppleton at the top of the order of merit with a tie for third at the McClarrons Sport Masters, his five-under-par 66 matched by Robert Burlison of Enville.
Rotherham’s Jonathan Thomson, who was on the European Tour two years ago, claimed a share of fifth place with a 67, while the tour’s co-director Chris Hanson finished in the money with a 68.

Hide AdSixty-one players teed it up with Woodsome Hall’s Rochelle Morris the highest-placed female after carding a one-over-par 72 and George Mason (Wath) the top amateur a shot further back.
The Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs Boys Under-16s and Un der-14s championships take place at Dewsbury District Golf Club today.
The Under-14s are first off, with tee times beginning at 9am and running until 11am with 39 players from across the county competing.
The Under-16s then take centre stage with 45 players teeing off from 12pm to 2.30pm.

Hide AdHaydn McCullen (Ashton on Mersey) scooped the £2,000 top prize at the two-day Leeds Cup at Leeds Golf Club last week.
McCullen fired rounds of 69, 64 to win the PGA North event by two shots from Gareth Davies of Abbeydale (71, 64), Michael Ramsden of Renishaw Park (66, 69) and four other players.
The Yorkshire Ladies County Golf Association have had to cancel their annual championship of 2020, scheduled for August 28-30 at Bradford Golf Club, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
