Otley 16 Stourbridge 21: Bonus point proves scant consolation

After a flying start, it took a strong finish for Otley to grab just a bonus point despite having created sufficient opportunities to win the game.

In fact, after replacement fly-half Christian Georgiou had kicked a penalty two minutes into stoppage time, Otley opened up and winger Curtis Wilson, having beaten three men, was just hauled down with an open field before him.

The Stourbridge kick-off was driven back at them before centre James White charged through the defence to link with winger James Twomey who made it to the line. Fly-half Will Nelson was wide with the conversion and he was to miss two subsequent penalties.

Twomey would have been in again with a more sympathetic pass and White continued to trouble the visitors' defence but somehow the vital link was missing and, in the meantime, three penalties were conceded , winger Alistair Bressington taking advantage to give his side a 9-5 half-time lead.

Nelson's penalty brought Otley to within a point but, losing possession in the Stourbridge 22, they saw the ball kicked back into their territory and it bounced ideally for No 7 James Rodley, who immediately handed on to winger Matt Williams, who raced in, Bressington converting. The advantage was extended when prop Will Davis was driven over from a line-out.

A quick reply from Otley saw them drive over from a line-out, captain No 7 Jamie Sutton grounding but the could do no better than the late penalty.
