Oxford United v Bradford City: Speight returns with challenge to prove point

League two: Jake SPEIGHT returns to the Bradford City squad today with manager Peter Taylor insisting the £25,000 striker has a point to prove.

The one-time Mansfield Town forward joined the Bantams during the summer only to then be jailed for assault.

Speight was released after just a few days but struggled in the early weeks of the season before being loaned out to Port Vale.

Now back at Valley Parade, Speight netted for the reserves in midweek and is hoping to be involved against Oxford United today.

Manager Taylor said: "This is a fresh start for Jake and, hopefully, he can get the goals we want."

City will have to deal with opponents determined to exact revenge today after Chris Wilder's Oxford were thrashed 5-0 at Valley Parade earlier in the season.

Simon Ramsden and Michael Flynn are again missing but the long-term absentees could be back in contention for the visit of FA Cup giant-killers Burton Albion a week today.
