Partridge proves too good for his Ryedale Grand Prix rivals

The 24-year-old Endura Racing rider from Wrexham, showed a clean pair of heels to his three breakaway rivals, with former Australian road race champion Darren Lapthorne – a team-mate of Doncaster's Graham Briggs and Rotherham's Dean Downing – taking second, while Sigma Sport's Middlesex-based Dutchman Wouter Sybrandy was third.

As well as road racing, Yorkshire was the place to be for top time trialling action as well, with London's Michael Hutchinson securing a fourth title in the National 25-mile championships at Boroughbridge on Saturday.

Hutchinson covered the course in 49:34 to win by almost two minutes from his nearest rivals, Drag2Zero.com rider Mark Holton from Preston and Leicestershire's Matt Bottrill.

Reigning champion Julia Shaw also successfully defended her 2009 title with a win in the women's event, while Conor Dunne (Glendene CC) was top junior.

York time triallist Steve Gore-Browne won Bridlington CC's 25-mile event on Sunday morning, clocking 55min 4sec for the course from Wilsthorpe to Leven and back.

The 42-year-old was quickest by 34 seconds from Sheffield rival Nick Sparks (Sheffield Tri Club), while Holme Valley Wheelers' Stephen Robinson took third, more than two minutes off Gore-Browne's pace.

Yorkshire Road Club were also celebrating after clinching the team prize, which was judged on age standard and saw Stan Mills, Stephen Woodrup and John Baines make up the winning trio.

Top veteran was 73-year-old Len Grayson of Team Swift who was more than 20 minutes ahead of his age standard, while Bridlington CC's Chris Hutchinson was top junior, the 16-year-old covering the course in 1:06.44.
