Portal's role after quitting saddle
CYCLING: Nicolas Portal was yesterday named as one of two new sporting directors by Team Sky.
The 31-year-old Frenchman was a rider for Team Sky in their debut season but heart problems restricted him to 47 days of racing and ultimately brought about his early retirement.
He will, however, stay part of the team as a member of the management group, with Servais Knaven joining after 17 years as a professional racer, most recently with Team Milram.
