Queens Park Rangers v Barnsley: Barnsley chief Robins expects hot reception

Championship: BARNSLEY manager Mark Robins is ready for a stormy start to the new season against Championship favourites Queens Park Rangers.

The Londoners, who are led by former Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock, have spent heavily this summer and Robins believes it will be a tough test for his side at Loftus Road.

"Whatever the forecast, you can expect high temperatures," he said. "It will be a difficult afternoon. They have got some quality and Neil Warnock has taken some of his tried and trusted players. A bit of money has been spent and quite rightly they have been installed as one of the favourites."

Moroccan international midfielder Adel Taarabt became the latest addition to Warnock's squad this week arriving for a fee in the region of 1m from Tottenham Hotspur.

His physical players include Shaun Derry, Clint Hill and Bradley Orr and goalkeeper Paddy Kenny makes his debut after leaving Sheffield United for 750,000.

Robins is without Argentinian striker Geronimo Morales Neumann whose international clearance has been delayed.

Neumann, 24, has signed a one-year deal after being released by Estudiantes.

"It's disappointing to say the least," said Robins, who also feels his squad is lacking in strength in depth. "We are trying to push things but it is a process that could take two or three weeks."

Manchester City defender Kieran Trippier, who played on loan for the Tykes last season, is again a target for Robins who admitted: "We are just a little bit light."
