Race sabotage leaves Tour leader Wiggins feeling exposed to fans

2012 - Boat Race: Cambridge claimed a controversial win over favourites Oxford after the race had to be stopped when protester Trenton Oldfield swam into the path of the boats as they headed for a tight finish.

2004 - Men’s Olympic marathon: A former Irish priest leapt from the crowd and tackled Brazil’s Vanderlei de Lima as he led the Olympic marathon in the closing stages. After a brief scuffle Lima resumed but finished third.

1997 - Australia World Cup qualifier: Australia were seemingly certain of qualifying for just their second World Cup when they led Iran 2-0. But the match turned when a fan ran onto the field and pulled the net down at one end and, after a long delay, Iran scored twice in the final 20 minutes to go through on away goals.

1994 - Nancy Kerrigan and Tonia Harding: American figure skater Tonia Harding was found guilty for her part in a plot to injure her rival.

1975 - England were denied a chance to win back the Ashes after the final Test against Australia had to be called off because of vandalism on the Headingley wicket.
