Rodillians produce Trophy shocker

Yorkshire Silver Trophy: Stanley Rodillians took time out from their league worries to secure a morale-boosting 33-3 victory over higher-placed Rotherham Phoenix.

Tries from Scott Cranmer, Adam Schofield, Jon Kay and Lee Gledhill helped Rodillians to secure a win which belied their position at the bottom of Yorkshire Four, while Rotherham Phoenix are pushing for promotion from Yorkshire Three.

Hooker Collum Hanogue scored twice as Old Otliensians beat rivals Old Modernians 35-25 to reach the second round. Other tries came from right winger Nick Keinhorst, winger Matt Taylor and player-coach Carlos Hassan.

Hemsworth ran out 41-12 winners at Rotherham Clifton.Prop Dale Harrison scored two tries, while Charlie Briscoe and Matt Hawcroft and Rob Taylor also touched down.

Tries from Andrew Wilkinson and Miles Robinson helped Leeds Corinthians secure a 23-12 victory at Wetherby. Henry Bisson and Gavin Leeman both scored two tries to help Burley to a 39-7 win over Ossett.

Thornensians battled back to secure a narrow 13-12 victory over Sheffield Medicals.

Goole beat visitors Hessle 25-0 with tries from Craig Fenton, Robert Shand, Mark Malcolmson and Liam Green. Aireborough won 32-8 at Halifax.
