The home side got on top and prop Michael Padgett crashed over for his first try for the club, Dean adding the extras.

Crossleyans came back with a vengeance, taking advantage of some missed tackles to score two tries in as many minutes through Neil Richardson and Lee Thomas to take a 15-13 lead into the break.

Nick Dykes crossed to restore the home advantage but Jones added a penalty and crossed for a try which he converted to make it 25-20 lead with 10 minutes to go.

Crossleyans' cause was not helped by a yellow card. Michael Bateman then knocked on when he seemed through but he made amends in the final moments when he went over in the corner, leaving Dean to slot home the difficult kick.

Cleckheaton's eight-try success came as a result of both an enterprising 15-man game plan and clinical execution.

They were slow out of the blocks and it was not until the 20th minute that Ross Hayden rewarded good forward play, prop Danny Furness to the fore, with a try out wide. Iain Gordon missed the conversion.

Three further tries from Richard Piper, a second from Hayden and the bonus-point try from Matt Piper, converted by Gordon, put Cleckheaton in the driving seat at the break.

The second half was one-way traffic with four further tries from James Wilson, Gordon, Mark Sergeant and replacement Joe Massarella, two of which were converted by Gordon.

Wheatley Hills, after winning their first five matches without collecting a single bonus point, scored six tries in their latest victory to move level with second-placed Percy Park on league points.

Wheatley took the lead after 10 minutes when right winger Jamie Webb raced over for a try which Guy Townsley converted.

No 8 Gareth Burns added a second try, Townsley again converting, before Morpeth scored what were to be their only points with a penalty from Tom Wilkinson.

Wheatley were 21-3 ahead by half-time as Townsley converted his own try.

fly-half, ran in again between the posts midway through the second half, giving himself an easy task with the kick, but Burns's third try on 70 minutes went unconverted.

Then, with two minutes remaining, left winger Ryan Guest touched down for Wheatley's final try.

Driffield 15

Percy Park 22

A STRONG defensive performance from Driffield kept high-flying Percy Park within reach, but it was not enough.

A losing bonus point against a side in the top three was a reasonable result for Driffield.

Driffield, who lost their first choice full-back in the warm-up, took an early lead with Sam Furbank kicking a penalty but Park hit back with a try, added a penalty and a converted try as the half rolled on and they were 15-3 ahead at the break.

Driffield scrum-half Craig Gray beat two tacklers to touch down straight after the break, Furbank adding the conversion. Park added another converted try but Driffield pounced in stoppage time with a length of the field move which brought a try for Jon Dervey.

Northumbria 41

Old Brodleians 10

Brodleians never really recovered from going 19-0 down after 20 minutes.

Adam Standeven steadied things with a try and Ollie Ackroyd added the conversion but there was no stopping the rampant Northumbrians who ran in two more tries before half-time.

The hosts added a penalty and a late converted try to complete a surprisingly comfortable win.
