Agar delighted as Hull discover form

Richard Agar was pleased to see his side rise to the pressure as they got their play-off campaign back on track with a 40-8 win over Catalan Dragons on Friday night.

A recent mini-wobble had seen the Black and Whites caught in the race for eighth place, with Hull KR, Bradford and Salford all circling with intent. But Hull’s most impressive showing for a month allowed them to put some much-needed breathing space between themselves and the rest and, with just three games to go, they are surely in the box seat to extend their season.

“I think Catalan are a very good side and when we have played the top teams we have played well,” said Agar. “We might not have always got the points we deserve, but tonight, to put in a performance like that is pleasing.

“They’re a top-five team, a good team and are there on merit. A lot of people would have been writing we were under pressure, but I thought we responded magnificently.”
