Agricultural Society's HQ takes leading architectural award

THE new headquarters of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society has beaten stiff competition to win a major architectural award.

The head office of the organisers of the Great Yorkshire Show won the highly acclaimed Project of the Year title as well as the Award for Sustainability at the 2010 Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Pro-Yorkshire Awards.

Judges said they were "overwhelmingly impressed" by the building, located on the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate. They praised both its design and commercial proposition.

The awards celebrate inspirational initiatives and developments in the land, property and construction sectors and this year's event attracted 77 entries.

As the winner of the sustainability category, the Regional Agricultural Centre now goes forward to the national RICS Awards later this year.
