Bradford 36 Workington 6: Williams and Henry impress for rampant Bulls

Having thrashed the part-timers from Cumbria 74-6 in the Challenge Cup, the Yorkshire side were slightly less clinical in the re-match, scoring a mere seven tries on a wet and much heavier pitch.

The Bulls went ahead after just five minutes when Lewis Tierney spilt the ball under heavy pressure on his own goal line.

Jay Pitts was the first to react and touch down with Ryan Shaw, who the previous week had notched a massive 30 points, adding the conversion with the first of four successful goal attempts.

A couple of minutes later Jake Mullaney dived over to extend the former Super League giants’ advantage and when winger Williams was first to Lee Gaskell’s diagonal kick over the defence to score again, the Bulls were already well on their way to a fifth straight league victory.

A Lee Gaskell break almost produced another try but Town regrouped quickly and the visitors resilience and contentment to just turn Bradford around at the end of every set prevented any further damage before half-time.

Adam Henry (twice), Gaskell and Williams scored further tries for Bradford after the break while Workington’s hard graft was rewarded with a consolation try from Perry Whitely, converted by Carl Forber.
