The New Zealander, 30, could miss Thursday’s Super League clash with Warrington Wolves as well as Sunday’s Challenge Cup tie against Hull FC.

A club statement read: “Castleford Tigers can confirm that First Team player Jesse Sene-Lefao has been stood down from selection and training due to Covid Track and Trace protocols.

“The club will be making no further comment at this stage pending the result of an internal investigation into the matter.”

It is the first time any Tigers player has been affected by the Covid protocols.

The Samoa international, who helped Castleford win the 2017 League Leaders’ Shield, did not feature in Thursday’s win over Salford Red Devils and has not played since facing Wigan Warriors on August 29.
