Current position means nothing, insists Potter

At the season halfway point, the West Yorkshire club are sat in the crucial eighth spot ahead of tonight’s trip to Salford City Reds knowing they could qualify for the first time in four years.

Their erratic opponents are in 10th, but six points adrift of Bradford so realise they need a win to keep their own hopes alive.

Potter insisted: “We are in an okay position, but if we were to lose a couple of games you can soon slip down the table.

“Winning every week is of the utmost importance to us. We have just got to keep doing that and not worry about the eight; it’s not important where you are halfway through the year it’s about where you finish.”

Bradford have shrugged aside off-field financial problems to win three of their last four outings to ignite hopes.

However, they were humbled 38-18 at home to Salford in March, just a week after Bradford had stunned St Helens.

Potter added: “They turned us over that day and it has been mentioned this week.

“But Salford are a quality team and their position doesn’t reflect the quality they have. We haven’t talked about revenge, just that it’s important to get this one back.”
