Dewsbury Rams 36 Batley Bulldogs 16: Prolific Brambani boosts Rams' survival bid with derby victory

DEWSBURY RAMS gave their survival hopes a huge boost with a terrific derby victory over Batley Bulldogs.

The Rams were inspired by a fine display from scrum-half Dominic Brambani as he scored two tries and kicked six goals.

Brambani edged Dewsbury ahead with a 15th-minute penalty but Batley hit back with a Josh Griffin try.

Brambani was then on hand to score near the posts and he also added a conversion, although the Bulldogs hit back in impressive fashion as Mark Toohey dived over for a try which Gareth Moore converted to put them 10-8 ahead.

Brambani hit back for the Rams as he darted over wide on the right and on the stroke of half-time James Craven raced away from the halfway line to touch down and Brambani's conversion proved enough to give Dewsbury a 16-10 interval lead.

The Rams improved after the break and ran away with things as Brambani kicked a penalty goal before Luke Stenchion latched onto a short pass and barged over with Brambani on hand to slot home the conversion.

Brambani landed another penalty to put his side 26-10 up and the scrum-half then kicked to the right and when Alex Brown dropped the ball Bryn Powell was on hand to scoop it up and score.

Brambani landed another penalty before the Bulldogs responded with a consolation try from Paul Handforth which Moore converted.

It was Dewsbury, however, who had the last word as Craven side-stepped his way through to the line to cap a terrific display by the home side.
