Dewsbury undone by returning Eagles

Sheffield Eagles, with five former Dewsbury players in their 17, completed a league double and moved above the Rams into fifth place in the Championship.

Ex-Ram Patch Walker had a big say in the two tries that sealed the win late in the second half before finishing off the revival with a touchdown.

Rams took an early lead through Shane Grady but Eagles hit back with Matt Garside sending in Misi Taulapapa at the corner. Walker added the goal.

Another returnee winger Scott Turner forced an error on the Rams line before picking up the loose ball to cross for a 10-4 lead.

Austin Buchanan’s try and Kieran Hyde’s goal put the Rams level after the restart, before the latter added a penalty.

Eagles opted to run the ball from penalties and were rewarded with Taulapapa taking a high crossfield kick from Walker for his second try.

Three minutes later Walker provided a short pass for Menzie Yere to crash over and then added the goal to leave the Rams needing two scores.

Yere forced an error in front of the posts and Walker picked up to touch down before adding the extras and a penalty for his fourth goal.
