Doncaster 46 Workington Town 12: Doncaster finish on a high against Town

DONCASTER saved their best until last with an outstanding final day display that almost cost Workington Town their play-off place.

Town were 135 points better off than rivals Swinton before the game but the Lions' 94-0 victory over Gateshead along with the pasting they were taking in this match made them sweat until the final hooter.

Doncaster took charge from the start and hardly put a foot wrong as they built up a 28-0 half-time lead.

Loose forward Rob Lunt raced over in the third minute before a great run by Kyle Kesik led to Craig Fawcett touching down eight minutes later as the Dons made a flying start.

Lunt took a return pass from Scott Watson to add the third try after 24 minutes and Doncaster rocked the wilting visitors with two more in first-half stoppage time.

Substitute Jack Ely forced his way over before Dean Colton rounded off a superb passing move in the corner.

Workington hit back following a rare lapse in the Doncaster defence when Paddy Coupar scored seven minutes after the interval.
