Featherstone Rovers 76 Keighley Cougars 12: Rovers add to their lead as Cougars are blitzed

CO-OPERATIVE championship pacesetters Featherstone increased their lead to four points with this 13-try win.

Kyle Briggs scored two tries and kicked nine goals as Rovers continued their best start to a league campaign with their seventh straight victory.

His half-back Liam Finn scored four tries as Rovers bounced back from Sunday's Challenge Cup defeat at Warrington.

Rovers took a second-minute lead when Jesse Joe Parker's excellent run led to dual-registered Leeds Rhinos centre Michael Coady scoring.

The Cougars, who have won only twice at Featherstone in the last 43 years, fell further behind when Briggs darted over.

Rovers increased their lead with two tries in two minutes from Finn who exchanged passes with Matty Dale to grab his first and quickly struck again by supporting Tommy Saxton's 55-metre break.

Six minutes before half-time, they made it 30-0 when Ian Hardman went over from close range.

The closest Keighley went to scoring in the first half was when ex-Rovers player Jonny Presley was held up over line.

The one-way traffic continued in the second half when Parker and Briggs made the opening for Zak Hardaker to score.

Keighley opened their account when Presley put in Gavin Duffy and Danny Jones converted to stretch his scoring run to 41 consecutive matches but Rovers soon cut loose again.

They completed the rout with further tries from Iain Morrison, Briggs, Dane Manning, Andy Kain, Hardaker and Finn (two), who also kicked three goals.
