Food partnership prepares to restructure

THE English Food and Farming Partnership, set up to champion British food, is to restructure.

Building on the projects it is undertaking with food and farming companies, the EFFP is proposing to invest in a newly formed agri-food consultancy led by the current EFFP management team.

The original business will continue and will be renamed as the Food and Farming Foundation (FFF). The FFF will stay as a not-for- profit organisation and will be taking a major stake in the newly formed consultancy business, European Food and Farming Partnerships.

Future profits from the investment will help to fill the gap in income left by the withdrawal of public funding and allow for continued delivery against its industry mission to champion collaboration across the farming and food industries.

EFFP chairman Steve Ellwood said its board believed the proposals provided a sustainable solution for delivery of its mission to champion collaboration across the farming and food industry.

The National Farmers' Union welcomed the move. Deputy president Meurig Raymond saying it was a sensible response to changes in Government funding in order that the important work could continue.
