Former Giant hoping to dethrone leaders to aid Bulls’ resurgence

BRADFORD Bulls assistant coach Lee St Hilaire believes his improving side have enough in their armoury to topple Super League leaders Huddersfield Giants tomorrow.

Their prolific visitors have lost just twice all season and show no obvious sign of easing up.

For Huddersfield-born St Hilaire, who spent two decades with Giants as both player and then assistant to the likes of John Kear and Tony Smith, he is pleased to see his hometown club developing into potential title candidates.

“Without doubt, they are a quality outfit with some very good players,” he said. “Nathan Brown and Paul Anderson have done a great job and (chairman) Ken Davy has played his part as well.

“They are very direct, have some big go-forward players like Eorl Crabtree, David Fa’alogo and Luke O’Donnell and on the back of that you have to contain Danny Brough and Luke Robinson.

“We haven’t even started talking about the edges where they have Leroy Cudjoe, Joe Wardle and Luke George all going very well.

“But, if we play how we can, we can do the job.”

Indeed, Bradford have shrugged aside their off-field cash problems to establish some impressive form of their own and seek a fourth successive win tomorrow. They also have fond memories of Huddersfield’s last trip to Odsal in July when Bradford inflicted a surreal 36-0 rout.

“We have built some great momentum and the squad is very tight-knit,” admitted St Hilaire, who could see Karl Pryce and Chev Walker return from injury.

“The energy levels have been excellent and, while we are looking forward to the challenge Huddersfield present, I am sure we will present a challenge to them as well.”

Huddersfield have rested ex-Bull Lee Gilmour and Kiwi David Fa’alogo so Keith Mason and Dale Fergusin are expected to feature.
