Fozzard joins hometown side Wakefield

Former Castleford Tigers forward Nick Fozzard has been appointed Wakefield’s new business development manager.

The Wakefield-born Fozzard, who enjoyed a successful playing career with Leeds, Huddersfield, Saints, Warrington and Hull KR, spent 12 months as commercial manager at Super League neighbours Castleford until resigning earlier this year.

“I’m from Wakefield so to work for my home-town club is a big thing for me and I want to make a real success of the opportunity,” he said.

“The club has made some real strides off the pitch in the last couple of years and that’s a really solid foundation for us to build on.”

Meanwhile, full-back Richard Mathers is set to return from injury for the Wildcats’ Tetley’s Challenge Cup fifth-round tie at Hull tomorrow. Mathers has been out for a month with an ankle injury and a ruptured testicle but has been named in coach Richard Agar’s 19-man squad.

England forward Ben Harrison is set to become the next high-profile Warrington player to turn out for Swinton this weekend.

Lee Briers and Paul Wood have played for the Wolves’ partnership club already this year and Harrison, out for a fortnight with an abdominal muscle strain, is poised to run out for the Lions in Sunday’s Championship match at Batley.
