FT Huddersfield Giants 24 Castleford Tigers 0: Tigers duo punished by club

LEADING Castleford Tigers duo Rangi Chase and Joe Westerman have both been dropped from this evening's game with Huddersfield Giants as a disciplinary measure.

Injury-hit Castleford are already struggling with seven first-teamers missing for the televised encounter at Galpharm Stadium and having picked up just one win in their last five Engage Super League fixtures.

Disgruntled fans called for the board to resign after Easter Monday's heavy loss against St Helens when, ironically, loose forward Westerman - Super League's Young Player of the Year in 2008 - and stand-off Chase were the club's most dynamic performers.

However, back-rower Olivier Holmes, 17, has now been brought into the squad and could make his debut alongside another Academy product, 20-year-old prop Jonathan Walker.

A club statement this afternoon read: "Castleford Tigers players Rangi Chase and Joe Westerman have been stood down from this evening's game with Huddersfield Giants as a disciplinary measure.

"The Tigers will be making no further comment regarding this matter at this stage."

On the pitch, Castleford crashed to a 24-0 defeat, with Giants winger David Hodgson grabbing a hat-trick.
