George quick to show potential after making switch to Giants

For several players on both sides have made the short trip between the West Yorkshire rivals, although one stand-out performer who has grabbed the headlines this season is Luke Geroge.

The Giants player has already picked up two hat-tricks this season and the winger returns to his former stomping ground in sizzling form.

Bringing Huddersfield-born George to the Galpharm saw Giants head coach Nathan Brown finally get his man.

“I always wanted to bring Luke to the club since my first 12 months in England,” said Brown.

“I knew he was a Huddersfield lad and I knew he was close to some of the other outside backs who are all good trainers and I thought he had a lot to offer.

“Did I expect him to go so well so early for the club? I’m not sure we did, but I was confident that he had the potential to be a good Super League player.

“He is an intelligent kid and he is picking things up and working hard on his game and he’s had a great start to the year.

“He has also played well in the big games so it’s not like he’s just turning up for the matches where we won by a big score. He is doing it against teams at all levels and everybody is really proud of him.”

Brown has a welcome selection dilemma tomorrow and will rest youngster Jacob Fairbanks.

Brown is expecting a tough game from Wakefield, with trio Andy Raleigh, Danny Kirmond and Kyle Wood all having swapped the Galpharm Stadium for Belle Vue.

“They will be looking forward to coming up against us,” said Brown.

“They don’t need to prove anything to anyone in Huddersfield because they all did fantastic for us.”
