Halifax 50 Swinton Lions 28: Four-try Fieldhouse keeps Halifax in title hunt after Lions win

Halifax full-back Ryan Fieldhouse scored four tries to help his side keep in touch with the Co-operative Championship leaders thanks to a 50-28 victory over Swinton at the Shay.

Steve Tyrer scored the first of Halifax’s nine tries and also kicked seven goals for an 18-point haul.

Lee Patterson scored two tries and others came from Anthony Bowman and Sam Barlow.

Swinton scored tries through David Mills, Karl Ashall, Neil Holland, Tom Armstrong and Ian Mort, who also kicked four goals.

Thunder, now without a win against non-amateur opposition in 61 outings, scored all of their points before half-time as Matt Barron and Josh Stoker managed to cross the whitewash.

Paul Stamp added two points for the hosts but Kevin Neighbour’s men ultimately surrendered to Crusaders’ relentless onslaught.

Toby Adamson, Leon Brennan, Jonny Walker and Liam Hulme all touched down for the visitors, Andrew Moulsdale and Billy Sheen going over three times each.

Neil Roden’s last-gasp drop-goal clinched a 25-24 victory for Oldham over London Skolars.
