Harlequins 12 Hull Kingston Rovers 52: Welham in four-try display to stun sorry Harlequins

JUSTIN MORGAN hailed his Hull KR side after seeing them bounce back from Friday's defeat to local rivals Hull by dismantling Harlequins 52-12 at the Stoop.

The Robins scored more than 50 points for the first time in Super League thanks to nine tries, winger Kris Welham scoring four.

And Morgan lavished praise on his side for their attacking qualities and energy levels.

He said: "It was a great response to the derby disappointment. We defended really well and there was some free flowing rugby out there that was a delight to watch.

"This Easter period is always very draining on the players and I am not sure people fully realise that , but we coped with it very, very well.

"It is an attitude thing. It takes a brave person to go out there and put your body on the line twice in the space of three days and we have a lot of those type of players.

"We have had a lot of players put their hands up today and prove they are up to the rigours of Super League and that is great.

"But we must not, and we will not, get carried away. This is just a win and is no more important than anything else. We have to keep our heads down and not get complacent in any way."

Hull KR had the game sewn up by half-time after four tries in the opening 40 minutes.

Ben Galea and Matt Cook got the ball rolling inside the opening 10 minutes, carving through the Quins defence at will.

Michael Dobson and Welham added further scores before the interval and Welham ran in another three scores after the break.

The result sees Harlequins remain firmly bottom of the pile, while Hull KR can look forward to next weekend's visit of Warrington with confidence.

Harlequins coach Brian McDermott said: "We were very, very poor. I include everything in that; our passing, our defending, our kicking, you name it."
