Honouring the food heroes

Free-range turkey and geese farmers Tim and Lynn Lindley of Hostingley Farm, Thornhill, are pictured with, right, the Mayor of Kirklees, Coun Julie Stewart-Turner, and a trophy she presented them with for being Local Food Heroes.

Also honoured in the first Kirklees Local Food Awards ceremony, at Huddersfield Town Hall, were Yummy Yorkshire, an ice-cream company based in Denby Dale, and Coddy's Farm of Huddersfield, which butchers and sells its own free-range meat.

An award for Local Food Menu went to the Vanilla Bean ice-cream parlour in Slaithwaite and Local Food Retailer was the Green Valley Grocer, also in Slaithwaite.
