Hull KR 16 Warrington 46: Morgan refuses to walk away from Hull KR

Hull KR coach Justin Morgan vowed to stay at the club and turn their fortunes around after watching his side lose their 12th Engage Super League game of the season.

Rovers were blown away in the first half as Warrington scored four tries in a 10-minute period, and another four tries after the break compounded Morgan’s misery as his side slipped to a 46-16 home defeat.

Morgan, who has been linked with a move to Australian NRL side Penrith Panthers next season, insisted walking away has never crossed his mind.

“No way whatsoever,” said Morgan. “I’ve been in worse situations than I’m in at the moment. That’s the easy option and it certainly hasn’t entered my train of thought at any stage whatsoever.

“I’ve got a good bunch of players here and the quality of players, team and the club doesn’t change based on this performance.

“The belief is still there and I’ve still 100 per cent got faith in the players. We’re just not performing at the moment. We’ll be doing everything in our power to get that sorted.”

Morgan was understandably dejected after seeing his side capitulate against the league leaders.

Warrington scored nine tries in all, with Matt King crossing for a hat-trick, while the Robins did not even get on the scoreboard until Blake Green touched down with 51 minutes played.

At that point the match was already over, however, after the Wolves had piled on 30 points.

“I walked away very upset and disappointed,” said Morgan. “The first-half performance certainly was not acceptable.

“I got to the point of almost apologising to the fans for playing like that in the first 40 minutes.

“Everyone associated with this club deserves better. We made too many errors in the first half and gifted them the ball, although luckily enough they gifted it back to us. That level of performance is disappointing. I put my hand up and accept responsibility.”

Rovers rallied with two tries in four minutes but it was too little, too late.

Colbon went over in the right-hand corner before Scott Taylor scored on his first start for the Robins. Dobson converting two of his side’s tries.
