Hull KR v Wigan Warriors: Quinlan hopes to go all the way with Robins

The talented full-back initially came over from Australia for a 12-game spell with St Helens in 2015.

He almost reached Wembley, Saints losing a tight semi-final against Leeds Rhinos who, ironically, subsequently went on to inflict a record 50-0 defeat of Hull KR.

Quinlan, who returned to the UK last season on a two-year deal with Rovers, recalled: “We got so close to Wembley. I remember watching the final afterwards thinking how close we’d got.

“It made me all the more keen to one day do it, go play in one of the biggest stadiums in the world in front of more than 80,000 people.

“Hopefully we can cause an upset on Sunday and go on a run to it this year with KR.”

It would certainly be an upset if they did make tomorrow’s quarter-final draw.

Rovers have just one win in their last seven league outings and were vanquished 54-18 at Wakefield Trinity on Sunday while in-form Wigan - second in Super League - are seeking a seventh straight victory.

Quinlan, 25, added: “Too often we’ve crumbled when things have started going against us and we have to rectify that if we are to start getting results.

“We have to keep it tight early on, hopefully they’ll get frustrated and we’ll get some chances which we then must take.”

However, the Robins are without 10 first-teamers, Danny McGuire, Ben Kavanagh and Chris Clarkson the latest to drop out with injuries.

City of Hull Academy players Owen Harrison and Elliot Wallis are in the 19-man squad and could debut.
