Hunslet Hawks 54 Doncaster 12: Doncaster slump to defeat at Hunslet

PROLIFIC centre Wayne McHugh returned from injury to score a hat-trick of first-half tries as Hunslet brushed aside Doncaster's challenge with a 10-try romp

Player-coach Paul March was up in support to take Waine Pryce's pass and score the first try in the right corner after seven minutes.

Richard Knight's conversion attempt hit a post but Knight improved the next five tries as the Hawks punctuated their superiority. McHugh raced through from 40 metres for the first of his three tries. Michael Mark then took four tacklers over the line with him and Tommy Haughey sent McHugh in under the posts.

Stuart Kain was first to reach a kick-ahead for the fifth try and McHugh sprinted in at the left corner to complete his hat-trick.

Doncaster had little to offer, Danny Allen lacking the necessary pace after intercepting a pass from Danny Grimshaw.

Haughey sent Pryce in for two tries early in the second half. Hunslet's defence finally cracked in the 56th minute. Lee Gomersall was allowed enough space to grab a try on the left, Simon Brown adding the goal.

Haughey and Knight added further tries for the Hawks and prop Garry Ellery crossed for Doncaster's second touchdown.
